December 16, 2008 Poll Winners and Weekly Awards!

I know a lot of you have been itching to find out who won the poll that we sent out a few weeks ago. Well, here are the results!

Poll 1: Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 won with 37% of votes, followed by the Ferrari F430 Scuderia with 25%, and the Aston Martin DBS and Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series brought up the rear with 19% each.

Poll 2: Porsche 930 won with 37% of the votes, followed by the Audi TT with 26%, BMW M Coupe with 23% and my beloved Mercedes-Benz 190 Evolution with only 14%. With a total of 6863 votes, we beat the last poll by a longshot! And be patient, young padawans, the cars will come when they’re ready.

And now for the weekly awards:

Most Active: Shaun Willett, with 435 activity points in the past week. Congrats, you addict!

Most Losses: Tony Rouble, with a whopping 326 losses. I hope this award will help!

Car of the Week: Pat Brown, with a Supra for the holiday season! I love how he’s even got the tree for his mirror dangler. I bet you could even make it better with the new carbon fiber doors!

December 14, 2008 Minor Update: Cache Clear

We’ve cleared image and dyno caches. This means that the following problems have been fixed:

1. No more 30-second GTI’s. I know a lot of you VW fans have been loving the GTI’s with a 2.5 G skidpad rating (almost F1-esque!), but it has been permanently fixed, and now the GTI’s will post more realistic times! Sorry!

2. Old image blunders are now fixed. These include the dark blue 350z with an orange stock rear bumper, dark frames around the quarter-panel windows for the S7 and Camaro, Silver M3 eyelids that were really yellow, and a couple other minor fixes.

The one side-effect is that your sent challenges that are shown in your notifications will not include the opponent car’s picture. Image loading will be slow for a few days as the cache repopulates.

Overall site speed is starting to feel a bit faster too, thanks to Lijen’s unyielding efforts.

December 11, 2008 Enter the MkIV Supra, and Other Goodies!

The winner of the poll a few months ago (sorry!) has finally arrived in a much-delayed shipment to the land of vDream! The Toyota Supra will prove to be a dangerous competitor in all aspects of racing.

Once again, the USS failboat is here. The shipment for aftermarket body parts will trickle in as we check them in through customs. Something about dogs sniffing for drugs… Our users must be hitting the ganja again.

On a lighter note, RX7 owners got a little present, too! Go check out the parts shop for a few added visual goodies! (go-fast goodies for all cars are added retroactively, or as I’d like to call it – ninja style. They won’t get announcements like the visual parts will.)

The winners of the 2nd round fbFund were announced yesterday at a demo event at Facebook headquarters. As most of you know, vDream was fortunate enough to be a finalist in this competition, and although we didn’t win, we give huge props to the winners and to all of the other great apps that competed! The 5 winners are:

Obviously we’re a little bummed that we didn’t make the cut, but more importantly we are immensely touched and sincerely appreciative of all of our users and friends that voted for our app in the competition (many of you even voted everyday, which is truly mind blowing). The competition was a great experience for the whole team, and we want to assure you that we will continue trucking onward to make vDream the best car-related app on Facebook.

And yes, yes, the Supra is coming. We’ve been having trouble with the artists – you should have seen Cheechoo’s frustration this weekend. I couldn’t help but laugh, but I felt sorry for the noob. Supra’s on its way. Keep your knickers on and stop asking about it. =)

Happy Thanksgiving to the American vDreamers! Get off of vDream and go spend some time with your families! Tryptophan awaits you, as well as some delicious pumpkin pie. I can’t wait! For those of you not in America… Happy fourth-Thursday-of-November…?

We’d like to introduce the long-overdue Pontiac Solstice GXP! A small pocket-rocket, this car is sure to be quick around the track, and I’m sure a blast to drive in real life. Have fun with the drop-top! Thank you to Daniel and Anas for finding the aftermarket parts.

For our Facebook users, we added a cool new feature so you can show off your vDream on your wall or your friends’ walls. Here’s the tutorial:

1. Click on the vDream icon at the top of your wall (it might be hidden in the drop down if you have a boatload of apps)

2. Select the car you want to post (if you want more cars, be sure to pick up an Atlas Parking Space. There are still only a few parking spaces left!)

3. Type in a comment… or talk some trash

4. Press “Post” and you’re done!

In light of Thanksgiving, I wanted to ask, what are you thankful for? Post a comment in the blog! We at vDream are most thankful for our dedicated users. You guys are what drives vDream, and although sometimes you guys can get a little rabid, foaming at the mouth and bouncing off walls and whatnot, we still love to see how excited you guys get about new cars, parts, and features.

Also, we released shocks for a good number of cars. They should help your track/endurance times. We are still tweaking the track/endurance times a bit as well, and ironing out the kinks.

Most Active: Abdul Amiri, with 482 activity points. The past couple of weeks there has been a battle royale for VDI on the leaderboard, with the top 10 changing daily, and even the top 5. Interesting to see what happens next!

Biggest Loser: Luke Van Tuyl, with 303 losses. Not like you need the extra cash, but that’s a lot of losses!

Car of the Week: Eiki Tanaka, with a sweet S5. Eiki has been a stalwart contender on the leaderboard ever since its inception, and he has always had an underpowered car, you can tell by looking at all those losses! A winner of the Biggest Loser award a number of times, I think he deserves the Car of the Week Award for his handsome Audi.
