    Sorry about the cheesy analogies, sometimes I can’t help myself. A few updates for all you friends out there in vDream land.

    1. Performance upgrades: We made some internal changes that should make the pages load faster and the overall experience smoother. Let us know if you guys can feel the difference.
    2. Wrong car information bug: There has been a bug, I’m sure many of you have experienced this, where you think you are racing one car, but in reality the user owns another car. This is fixed, you should always be seeing the most up to date car in the track section now.

    The warm weather of summer is almost gone, folks! Let’s get in our last fun-in-the-sun before the gloomy winter overtakes us! We’ve chosen 4 entry-level sub-$30k convertibles to be the next vDream.

    We have also soft-launched a new part type – transmissions. Right now we are only offering transmissions to cars that are currently undervalued.

  • September 12, 2008 Vintage: Chevy Camaro Muscle Car Joins vDream!

    I would like to welcome vDream’s newest member, the 69 Chevy Camaro. First, we polled users to see what kind of car they wanted to see. They wanted to see Vintage American Muscle. Then, we polled users to see which Vintage American Muscle car they wanted to see, and the Camaro won. That was the story of its inception.

    Some tips about the Camaro: It has the potential to have a pretty good amount of power, but with its stock drivetrain, it bogs down a bit. Next week we will be releasing a new part type which will probably be part of the drivetrain (think transmission, clutch, flywheel, etc). It’s the drivetrain parts that will help this car the most.

    Keeping tradition alive, I give you the winners of the week. I found this week amazing because of the sheer activity going on. The numbers were huge.

    Most Active: Mark Castillo, with a huge 409 activity points. I’m not sure what the max is, but I bet that’s close.

    Most Losses: Whitney Brown, with 109 losses. That’s a lot for a Viper! Hopefully this week’s reward will bring you a little closer to that S7.

    Car of the week: Bradford Tierney, with a very Touring-looking E46 M3.

    Hey vDreamers, I wanted to keep you guys in the loop on whats going on on our side of things, development-wise and such. We just pushed out some minor updates, with some more stuff coming soon!

    1. Out of gas loophole fix – By popular demand, when a user accepts a challenge where the challenger runs out of gas, you will be rewarded a cool $400 and a win. The challenger’s challenge will automatically be canceled, and the challenger will be notified. If you were unfairly penalized chicken outs because of this loophole, submit a bug ticket and I will remove your unfair chicken outs.
    2. New Facebook Application Tab – For those of you using the “New Facebook”, you can now add the “My vDream” application tab and show off your vDream to all your friends.
    3. Updates to vDream Profile Boxes – We snazzied up the vDream widget in your profile “Boxes” page just a tad.
    4. We applied for the FB Fund – In an effort to try and get a little cash money, we’ve applied for the FB Fund. Fingers crossed, would be nice to be able to hire up some engineers. Help us out, if you like vDream leave us a review on the App Page!

  • September 02, 2008 vDream Halo Car: Saleen S7

    The Saleen is out! The vDream Halo Car has 750hp, 700torque, and weighs in at only 2950 lbs. If you get a good start (that is, with no wheelspin), you should be looking at sub-10 second times for your stock S7. Good luck! The saleen will be receiving aftermarket parts in a proactive way throughout the next couple of weeks. I doubt any of you will own this car any time soon though. Haha!

    That’s it for the rewards this week. But I have one announcement: This coming week, we will release a user submitted parts package which will only include parts that users have submitted and were accepted. I have to admit, there weren’t that many good submissions. Remember, you guys have to try and stick with part types that we currently offer! There weren’t that many visual parts that were feasible with our system yet. But keep sending the submissions! We’re looking at every one!

  • August 27, 2008 vDream Poll 5: Entry Level Domestic Car

    The results of the last poll were: the 69 Camaro won with 39% of the vote, so that will be the next vDream you will see! The rest were: 22% for the Cuda, 22% for the Charger, and 17% for the GTO. We also found out more about you guys: 61% of you actively modify your car, 20% of you just play car related video games, 15% of you are interested in cars, and 3% of you just like social games. Barack Obama was our most desired bobblehead with 15%, followed by a mere 7% for McCain. Chuck Norris got 2%, and the rest were random funny things like: Paris Hilton, Borat, a dog, the stig, and even Lijen. Funny stuff!

    We need an entry level American car on vDream, and we believe it’s important to expand the lower car segment to give new users more choices. Help us choose your favorite!

  • August 25, 2008 End of the Olympics, and vDream collectibles!

    This is a reminder, that all Olympic-related paraphernalia on vDream, and the vDream Medallion are going to be REMOVED from the Parts Shop starting tomorrow! So if you were planning on getting the collectibles, get them while they’re still around! They will NEVER appear in the Parts Shop again, so it’s truly a last-call.

  • August 21, 2008 Infineon Raceway Event!

    Hello vDreamers! Team vDream is going to our second racing event at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA!

    We are registered with NASA pro racing (go to nasaproracing.com to get registered, if you’re interested), and are going in the HPDE 1 group (yee-haw we are professionals), which is the noob group (oh… damn). We’ll be driving our mascot, Leah, a white 92 Civic DX hatch that has no radio, the horn doesn’t work, a/c doesn’t work, a bolt is missing on the passenger seat mount (gonna have to get that fixed), the window lever breaks daily, and the rear suspension makes scary noises. But she’s a reliable girl, that civic.

    If any of you are interested, join us out there! It’s a fun experience, great environment to learn how to drive, and it’s always cool watching the real racers do it. You don’t have to race either. We’re just bringing some vDream related friends out there, bringing some picnic stuff, and hanging out in the parking lot too.

    On a site-related side-note, the Saleen will be here next week. This week will be some new sets of wheels which I’m adding concurrently so look out for those.
